itD is seeking a Data Engineer to support the development and validation of next-generation wearable technologies by enabling scalable, high-quality data collection and analysis workflows. This role will contribute directly to device-testing initiatives by building and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring sensor data quality, and supporting research and product teams with reliable datasets and insights. The ideal candidate will bring experience in hardware-based data collection, data engineering, and scientific analysis, along with a track record of delivering reliable data infrastructure and actionable insights that improve product performance.
Location: Onsite – New York, NY (5 days per week)
Pay Rate: $64- $72 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
- Design and execute data collection studies in collaboration with research and product teams to capture high-quality biosensor data.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity and quality of large, multi-sensor datasets, implementing validation, cleaning, and quality monitoring processes.
- Debug and troubleshoot firmware and software issues impacting data acquisition from hardware sensors.
- Execute and optimize distributed compute workflows for large-scale dataset processing, metric computation, and analysis.
- Build and maintain benchmarking tools and frameworks to evaluate model performance across large datasets.
- Analyze experimental results, generate hypotheses, and interpret findings to support product and research decisions.
- Create data visualizations and summaries to communicate data quality, experiment outcomes, and insights to cross-functional teams.
Internal Responsibilities
- Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
- Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.
- Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material).
- Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.
- Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).
- Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 2+ years of experience with Python for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Experience with SQL for querying and managing datasets.
- Experience working with hardware sensor data and data collection systems (e.g., IMU, EMG, optical sensors, or similar).
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across software and hardware interfaces related to data acquisition.
- Experience managing and analyzing large, high-dimensional datasets.
- Experience with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, or Pandas.
- Experience creating data visualizations using tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or similar libraries.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with signal processing, particularly time-domain signals such as EMG or IMU.
- Experience building tools or interfaces using JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Additional hands-on engineering experience supporting hardware-software data pipelines.
- Experience supporting experimental data collection or research-driven engineering environments.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required.
